As Sedona Trail Keeper Sponsors Increase, so does Trail Funding

The Sedona Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau donated $100,000 to the Sedona Red Rock Trail Fund on February 28, 2019!

During the annual Sedona Trail Keepers donation event, $35,000 was donated from 35 local business sponsors with an equal match of funds from visitor bed tax contributions from the Chamber’s tourism budget, totaling $70,000. An additional $30,000 was donated to the Sedona Red Rock Trail Fund for the development of the Western Gateway project.

With the long-term partnership of 35 committed sponsors since 2017, the Sedona Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau (SCC&TB) will generate and donate $310,000 for the Sedona Red Rock Trail Fund (SRRTF) by 2022.

“Trail Keepers is an essential element of SRRTF’s mission accomplishment”, says Kevin Adams, President of the SRRTF. “Without Trail Keepers, our local non-motorized trails would be in peril.”

We all know the economic boon that tourism brings our community, but we also realize the not-so-great impacts to our land and resources. That’s why the Sedona Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau (SCC&TB) developed the Sedona Trail Keeper Program in 2017. This program has given businesses the opportunity to help sustain Sedona’s most grand attraction – the trail system.

“My decision to participate in the Sedona Trail Keepers program was an easy one to make”, says Linda Rogers, Branch Manager of Loan Simple. “I live in Sedona for the quality of life it offers. This includes our incredible trail system of which I am a regular user. As a mortgage lender, my business relies on others who move to Sedona for the same reasons I did. I view my donation as an investment in the quality of my personal life AND an investment in my business.”

The SCC&TB is also proud to introduce their newest program to enhance our trail systems and provide more trail amenities. Each bike repair station is equipped with a bike hanger, heavy-duty bike pump and air kit, and commonly used tools for bike maintenance. Safety is a major concern on the trails and this new program provides additional safety amenities for riders.

During the annual donation event, six local businesses were recognized for being sponsors of the new bike repair stations strategically placed around Sedona. Thanks to the following bike repair station sponsors:
  • Biermann Construction
  • Enchantment Resort
  • Over the Edge Sedona
  • Red Agave Resort
  • Rick Wesselhoff – Associate Broker – Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage
  • Verde Valley Cyclists
Two bike repair stations were installed in February and the others will be installed throughout March and April, dispersed in high use areas including the Fay Canyon, City Bike Skills Park at Posse Grounds, Adobe Jack Trail, Chuckwagon Trail, Bell Rock Trail, and Yavapai Vista Trail.

If your business is interested in sponsoring a bike repair station, please contact the Chamber Administrative Office at 928.204.1123.
