Three days with the family in Sedona Verde Valley

Sedona Verde Valley has tons of fun activities and unique things to do to make for a memorable getaway with your family. To help you make the most of your time in Sedona Verde Valley we put together an itinerary of activities for a perfect 3-day trip with the kids.

Day One

Morning

An ATV Tour or Safari Jeep Tour is an exciting way to explore the famous rock formations from up close with a knowledgeable and passionate tour guide. This is a great way to start your trip in Sedona Verde Valley, as you will learn a lot about the topography, the history and the wildlife of the area. You’ll also encounter great photo spots, so make sure your camera is ready! Children as young as 18 months can safely ride in the open-air jeeps and kids of all ages will enjoy the adventure!

Afternoon

Now that you are familiar with the sights, it’s time to get active! Whether you like mountain biking or road riding, Sedona Verde Valley is a great place for riders of all levels and ages. Rent bikes for the family at one of the many bike shops in town and explore the area on your own or book a Self Propelled Bike Tour to explore parts of Sedona often missed by tourists with an expert guide. If you don’t want to push yourself too much or if you have family members of different fitness levels riding together, consider a tour with Sedona E-Bike Tours.

Evening

Head to Blazin’M Ranch in Cottonwood for an Old West experience. The Frontier town offers plenty of activities for the family such as a museum, a shooting gallery, ropin’ lessons and the Old-Time photo studio where the period costumes and accessories make for a fun family portrait! Stay for dinner and for a taste of their delicious BBQ while enjoying a show by the talented Blazin’M Cowboys.

Day Two

Morning

Start Day 2 with a Trolley tour with either Sedona Trolley or Red Rock Magic Trolley.  Kids will love riding in the open-air trolleys and tours are very educational and fun for all ages. There are different tours to choose from, so even if you have already explored the region on your first day, you’ll find one that suits you!

Afternoon

In the afternoon, head to M Diamond Ranch for a memorable horseback riding adventure. You will ride on private trails accessed only by the M Diamond Ranch and the wildlife that naturally inhabits the area. It’s a great way to experience the spirit of the region. Kids as young as 7 can take part in the 1-hour trail ride. You can also combine a horseback ride with a cowboy lunch or a hearty steak dinner and some live country music.

Evening

After dinner, if the little ones aren’t ready for bed be sure to go outside and take advantage of the beautiful night sky. The area is one of the best star gazing spots in the US thanks to little light pollution, high altitude and a majority of dry clear nights. Join a tour led by a professional astronomer to bring the experience to the next level or just find a quiet spot, pack a blanket and gaze at the night sky.

Day Three

Morning

Start the day by heading to Out of Africa Wildlife Park in the town of Camp Verde. Once there, your kids will love interacting with hundreds of wild-by-nature animals from all over the world. There are many unique activities and shows to choose from such as the popular Tiger Splash, African Bush Safari and Predator Feed. The most adventurous of your family members will enjoy the Predator Zip line, a high-flying adventure over the safari park.

Afternoon

Although it’s easy to spend an entire day at the wildlife park, you can check out another great family attraction before leaving, the Verde Canyon Railroad. This fully restored vintage train will take your family on a leisurely ride along the beautiful Verde Canyon. Attendants will share their knowledge about the canyon’s history, geology and wildlife.
