4 Rainy Day Activities To Do With the Kids in Sedona Verde Valley

With close to 300 days of sunshine per year, you are very likely to spend your trip to Sedona Verde Valley soaking in the sunshine and enjoying the outdoors. But we do get some rain sometimes and that doesn’t mean you won’t have fun as a family! Here are four perfect activities for rainy days that will keep the kids happy!

1) Take a trip on the Verde Canyon Railroad

Enjoy the beauty of the landscape on board this beautifully refurbished train. The Verde Canyon Railroad journey is great in every season, and in every weather! When the weather doesn’t cooperate, your family will love exploring the Verde Canyon through the panoramic windows and the covered open-air viewing car. The train’s handsome FP7 locomotives are two of only 10 remaining in North America and will make a strong impression on your kids!

2) Learn more about the region at the Sedona Heritage Museum

You’ll learn everything there is to know about the history of Sedona Verde Valley and the early families who settled there. The Sedona Heritage Museum (pictured above) is focused on the lifestyles and works of the people who pioneered this community, from 1876 to the present. Kids visiting can embark on a scavenger hunt or dive into the Museum’s activity book. There’s a kids play area in the apple shed where kids can dress up and play. And it’s also free for kids under 13.

3) Drive on the Red Rock Scenic Byway, An All-American Road.

Even if the weather isn’t the best for hiking, it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the scenery. Jump in the car with the family, pack some snacks, turn on some good American music and drive along one of the most scenic drive in the country. Only 36 of the Byways in the country, including Red Rock Scenic Byway, have earned the prestigious All-American Road designation.

4) Spend the afternoon at Cliff Castle Casino

Going to a casino with kids? At Cliff Castle Casino in Camp Verde, parents can have fun on their own while kids enjoy an afternoon at Kids Quest. Kids Quest, a supervised childcare center, provides a safe, secure and fun environment for children 6 weeks to 12 years old. With plenty of games and activities, kids can’t help but have a great time! Parents can put their luck to the tests at their favorite slot machines and live table games and the family can then reunite for a bowling game at the 20-lane bowling center or enjoy a good meal at one of the casino’s restaurants.
